This course has been designed to give students an introduction into the carpentry and construction industry. The course allows students to undertake a small building, construction, and allied trades (BCAT) project to familiarise them with hardware and fastenings. |
Plumbing |
This course has been designed to give students an introduction to plumbing, gas-fitting and drain-laying. There will be a number of practical activities to demonstrate the nature of the work and act as a taster for the Trades Academy and full-time courses. |
Gain experience in building, construction, carpentry, roofing, how to read and interpret plans, health and safety, plus hand and power tool use and maintenance. Students will spend three days at WITT and work on building projects and a small dwelling. There is also an opportunity to participate in work experience.
You will work with the Talent Pipeline companies and the NPDC to create a foot bridge that helps to support our local infrastructure.
Gain knowledge of portable power tools, carpentry hand tools, timber machining equipment, timber, mechanical and non-mechanical construction equipment.
Learn introductory skills in residential plumbing and trades services. This course leads to the New Zealand Certificate in Plumbing, Gas fitting and Drain laying (Level 3) or onto work places and a Level 4 Apprenticeship.
