Scholarships are open to any Taranaki student completing their final year of secondary school this year, as well as those who finished year 13 last year. WITT has extended applications for both School Leaver Degree and Sports Academy Scholarships until the 13 September 2021.
Jeremy Johnston, a second-year student studying Bachelor of Nursing at WITT was awarded a scholarship for 2020 in his last year at Francis Douglas Memorial College.
Jeremy said the application process was simple and being selected for a School Leaver Scholarship meant he effectively only has to pay for one year’s tuition on a three-year degree. “From the course fees, to uniform, textbooks and equipment it adds up. Through the WITT Scholarship and also the Government’s Fees Free initiative I was able to cover both my first and second-year course costs!”.
“My time at WITT has been great, there’s such a sense of whanautanga among the students and staff and they’ve got an amazing Simulation Suite.”
Jeremy’s goal following graduation next year is to walk away a “bright busy tailed Registered Nurse”, and secure a place at Taranaki Base Hospitals Emergency Department as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner.
