Former ICU nurse joins the Nursing School

Experienced paediatric intensive care nurse and educator Jacqui Quinn has joined the WITT Te Pūkenga School of Nursing as an Academic Lecturer and will be sharing her extensive clinical experience and knowledge teaching new and current nursing ākonga.

As well as paediatric nursing Jacqui has also worked in adult intensive care and accident and emergency departments both in New Zealand and Canada.

Jacqui’s Manager Helen Lelean says: “We are very fortunate to have someone with Jacqui’s depth of experience in acute care and skills in clinical education roles join the team.”

Having recently worked in a clinical educator role teaching fellow registered nurses, as well as immunisation and ICU mahi, Jacqui is ready to get stuck into her teaching load when students start later this month.

“I have a passion for teaching and mentoring others and I want to empower ākonga to be the best, most authentic health professionals they can be so we launch amazing nurses out into the workforce.

Trained at what is now known as WINTEC Te Pūkenga Jacqui can relate to the learning journey ākonga are on.

“While I have 14 years of nursing experience to draw on I am aware of the importance of continual learning and seeking out current best practice to be able to offer my best to patients and now students - I am aware in my career how much has changed and evolved,” she adds.

Jacqui has moved from Kirikiriroa to join the team and says her dog has quickly discovered a love for beaches and become a beach bum while Jacqui and her partner are settling in and enjoying all that New Plymouth has to offer.
