Applications for WITT's School Leaver Scholarships have been extended by two weeks, allowing students disrupted by Covid-19 over the past year more time to apply.
The School Leaver Scholarship covers a year's tuition fees on any undergraduate degree starting in March 2023 at WITT Te Pūkenga, to a value of up to $7,500 each.
Scholarships are open to any Taranaki student completing their final year of secondary school this year, or those who finished year 13 last year. Applications for the School Leaver Degree Scholarship now close on 26 September 2022 while the Sports Academy Scholarship will not close until 31 October 2022.
The Sport's Academy Scholarship is designed for school leavers looking to study any programme at WITT Te Pūkenga starting in March 2023 while also advancing their high-level sports careers.
Nikki Truman Careers Advisor at WITT says that scholarships can open the door to ākonga who might not otherwise be able to obtain education due to financial pressures.
"We know that scholarships can make a big difference in people's education, and I hope that this extension only increases our applications."
"If the student is eligible for the government's first year first WITT, we hold the scholarship until the second year of their degree."
Nikki said the scholarship process at WITT is very simple and encourages any ākonga leaving school thinking about studying an undergraduate degree at WITT to apply.
