The Professional and Professional Development courses are opening another opportunity for Taranaki’s Professional industry alongside our new initiative QualifyMe. With as little as two hours of class time a week, these specialised Professional Development courses are the perfect fit for an already busy schedule.
The courses cover a range of industry-relevant topics, from business analytics to accounting practices or even event logistics. Being delivered over 15 weeks, they provide focused learning that fits around your life. The courses are an excellent opportunity for individuals or employers who are looking to upskill their teams.
Jan Lockett-Kay, Deputy Director School – Māori Enterprise, Business and Technology, says that these courses are a great fit into the everchanging professional work environment.
“Work environments are constantly changing, and opportunities arise for career progression when staff can show that they are keeping up with changing work demands,” she says.
“Attending courses like this to upskill can give someone a huge advantage in their career.”
Michelle Von Pein, a past student in the organisational behaviour Professional Development course, said it was a great fit in her professional and personal life.
“The part-time nature of the course enabled me to upskill without the sacrifices I would have had to make in full-time study. I had the freedom to pick a specialised course in one area that I knew I would enjoy” she said.
“The course gave me an in-depth insight into behaviours of corporations and management styles which I was able to apply directly to my full-time job.”
“Seeing the addition of Personal Development courses this year catered more towards people’s personal interests is an exciting opportunity,” Michelle says.
The Personal Development aspect of the courses ranges from Basic Motor Car Maintenance to Plant-based Cooking or Intro to Makeup. These bite-sized courses are great for anyone developing a personal interest or looking for a new one.
