School Leaver Scholarships close soon

Applications for the WITT Te Pūkenga School Leaver Scholarships close soon. The scholarships cover a year's tuition fees on any undergraduate degree starting in March 2024 at WITT, up to the value of $7,500 each.  

"We know that scholarships can make a big difference in people's study and career planning and we hope that offering scholarships enables more people to consider tertiary study,” says WITT Te Pūkenga Marketing Manager Natalie Warren.

Former Inglewood High School ākonga (student) Chevaun Joyce is glad her Careers Teacher put her onto the WITT School Leavers Scholarship. Chevaun is completing a Bachelor of Applied Management with the hope of working in public relations for Formula One. She’s using the WITT scholarship for her second year of fees and using the government-funded first year fees-free this year which means she hasn’t had to use a student loan at all.

“Having the scholarship means I have two years to save up to fund my last year and I can get a degree completely debt-free,” says Chevaun.

Chevaun says studying at WITT is relaxed and she’s able to manage her classes and assignments and fit in her part-time job as a retail assistant.

Scholarships are open to any Taranaki student completing their final year of secondary school this year, or those who finished year 13 last year who are applying to study an undergraduate degree at WITT in 2024.

“With the government fees-free first year, most scholarship recipients defer the school leavers scholarship to their second year effectively getting two years fees free, which is very savvy” says Natalie.
