TechWeek is back for 2022!

TechWeek is back for 2022! New Zealand's celebration of technology and innovation is returning 16-22 May. This year WITT is excited to be hosting two events.

• Introduction to Agile Project Management
• The Future of Information Technology: Data and Smarter Machining

We will also have a stall at ‘Your Future in Energy – Science, Tech and Careers Expo’ organised by GNS Science.

Tech Week is held all around the country with a nationwide series of events showcasing and celebrating New Zealand’s innovation.

This year Maria Villapol Blanco, a Bachelor of Applied Management tutor, is hosting ‘Introduction to Agile Project Management’ here at WITT and is passionate about getting everyone involved.

 “TechWeek is a great event, and I’m glad to be involved in organising events for the second year in a row. This year I am the speaker for the Introduction to Agile Project Management and I organised the event ‘The Future of Information Technology.”

 “I always encourage my students to attend each year, and this year I have been able to send invitations to people who work for the council and even some of our contractors working on-site here at WITT,” she said.

The Tech Week initiative is hoped to provide a platform for everyone to meet, share ideas and create connections to enhance our future world.

Komal Sorthiya and Ambreen Memon, IT tutors at WITT are co-hosting ‘The future of Information Technology.’

Komal is very excited to be a part of TechWeek for the second year in a row and leaped at the opportunity when she was approached to be a part of the event.

“I am thrilled to be hosting the event which I am passionate about, along with the great satisfaction of presenting WITTs capabilities for Thinking ahead in the future.

“My hope is that students will come to know what we are capable of as WITT staff and what WITT can serve to the students, the community, and the region while thinking ahead with the future,” she said.

Ambreen shared many of the same excitements as Komal and recognised that initiatives like TechWeek are essential for getting the community involved and excited about topics.

“I am confident that with initiatives like TechWeek we can give students a better understanding of technology and can attract more students to study,’ she said.
