This programme will give you the base skills and tools to help fill the shortage of trained pest operators and contribute to New Zealand becoming predator-free by 2050. You’ll learn trapping and poisoning techniques for controlling rats, rabbits, stoats and ferrets (some of our most destructive animal pests), as well as methods for controlling pest plants.
Get the technical skills and gain practical conservation knowledge to carry out operational conservation work and provide sustainable stewardship of the environment while working respectfully with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, local iwi or hapū tikanga and kawa.
Become a skilled and competent environmental researcher and resource management employee and be able to apply skills relevant to the conservation industry.
